IS IT REALLY OVER?

The children run as noise
fills the air like smoke,
exploding in all directions to
keep us running so we’ll never meet.

Is it Really Over?

Time hangs perilously from
a thin gold chain.
Children running and homeless
their eyes of grey.

Is it Really Over?

All of my life I’ been afraid of
the nuclear threat, national debt.
Enemies dissolve in the Russian snow,
Vietcong smile as their country grows.

Is it Really Over?

Memories tainted with a natural hate
Open, revealing a war keepsake
Tell me again that everything’s fine.
No bomb, no death, just everlasting breath

Is it Really Over?
